ROMA NATION DAY
Please forward this widely. Contact travellersolidarity@riseup.net to find

Roma Nation Day 2012,
8th April – Easter Sunday Demo
12 noon, Hyde Park Corner
This year is the 41th anniversary of the first Roma Nation Day, and yet Roma and Travellers now experience worse levels of oppression than in the ’70s. The far-right is openly using violence to destroy Romani communities across Europe, while rightwing governments criminalise their cultures.
Join in this day of action by and for Roma in countries around the globe. Solidarity has never been more needed since the rise of fascism seventy years ago.
Let us show our unity with those who in dozens of countries, from Bulgaria to Belgium, Argentina to India, have protests planned, and with those who cannot protest for fear of violent reprisals.
The march will be touring the embassies of countries flagrantly abusing the rights of Romani communities, and those leading the surge in anti-Roma racism. We will also pay a visit to the Tories who bankrolled the Dale Farm eviction, and continue to legislate for the cycle of Traveller
evictions throughout this country.
Check www.romanationday.org to follow as new protests are planned worldwide, and to let us know if you are organising an event in your area.
Email travellersolidarity@riseup.net for general queries, if your organisation would like to support the initiative, or to report actions.
The Traveller Solidarity Network is helping to coordinate the day of grassroots action internationally. As we prepare for a possible second eviction at Dale Farm, let’s ensure that anti-racists in the UK speak out for the rights of some of the most persecuted minorities both in Britain
and across the globe.
Join us at 12 noon, at Hyde Park Corner, on 8th April, Easter Sunday, and resist the tide of racism through international solidarity.
