“Call for Union”
Dear Roma, Javen sare saste i bahtale
As the President of the Polish Roma Union and Your brother I am calling for the reunion of our nation. For some time we can see that there is “brother unity” among Roma and Romani organisations. One can feel noticeable attempts of breaking our nationality and unfortunately we are vulnerable for such attempts. The divisions in our community are artificially inspired and reinforced, which confirms that Roma are broken and divided and such situation shouldn’t take place.
I think we should keep us together bearing in mind that nowadays it is really difficult to all of us. Vast majority of Roma are poor people, who live in a greater and greater poverty, with no perspective for the change of situation, for getting a job, for a decent life. The money, which are destined for the programs for Roma, are in vast a part implemented by non – Romani organisations. We really don’t know whether the funds destined for realization of programs for Roma community are really properly spent and whether they are really destined for Roma.
I am positive, that we Roma know best, what is necessary for our community and only We as the representatives of our community can help it. I call You to move all our quarrels and disputes into the corner and let they were replaced by our common will of helping Roma and common objectives. Let’s go TOGETHER in front of all people hostile to us and let’s show them that We can do more as well, that we can be together in every moment, that we are still one Big Family. Let’s show, that a priority issue for us is to help all Roma as a single person, who needs this help, which are able to bring with the assistance of funds and tender for realization of governmental programs directed to Roma community. I believe that we all unite, our motive power will be bigger and in this way we will help our brothers and sisters more.
No Romani association of Poland will do it alone. This why I am calling on Romani organisations’ leaders for the right actions, which serve the benefit of Romani nation, for resignation of their own proud and forcing interests of their organisations, for creating one common aim for the benefit of our nation. Let’s leave the past, misunderstandings and quarrels, let’s unite, because only the union of our nation makes a hope for a better tomorrow for us and next generations of Roma.
So my Dear – let’s go our common step towards our common objectives and let’s be together, let’s speak the same language in every situation and let’s carry help with a hope for a better tomorrow for our community, what I wish all of us.
Yours faithfully,
The President of Polish Roma Union
The Member of the Common Government and
National and Ethnic Minorities Commission
Roman Chojnacki

WHAT TO DO NOW?
