Expulsion of Roma people, Totozani: Citizens should show tolerance

Tirana, 09/05/2012 – Ombudsman Igli Totozani asked the inhabitants of the area of Sharra, where the Roma community lives, to show the spirit of tolerance and good cohabitation. He referred to the clashed of the previous day between the inhabitants of this area and the police in the former military unit of Sharra.

“We invite the small group of the inhabitants that live near the military unit that was involved in yesterday’s incident with the police to show tolerance and good cohabitation,” said Ombudsman Igli Totozani.

He also stimulated the Labor Ministry to fulfill the Ombudsman’s recommendations in relation to the basic living conditions in the former military unit, where 8 Roma families were living since February.
