French NGO asks for lifting labour restrictions for Bulgarians and Romanians

Paris, 29/06/2012 – In a letter sent to French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault the Romeurope National Rights Collective asks for a moratorium on the extradition of Roma people from France, AFP reported.

The organisation asks the French government to stop sending off the Roma from the camps they have built without alternative accommodation, a moratorium on the expulsion of European citizens from France and effective application of the general law, which includes the right of social protection, education, access to medial care and health protection.

The organisation also asks for lifting the measures, which restrict the access of Bulgarians and Romanians to the labour market in France.

Around 9,000 Romanians and Bulgarians have been expelled from France in 2011 in the frames of a programme for voluntary return to the motherlands launched by the previous French government.
